Ready for another challenge?

January 25, 2009 in Challenges

Kung Hee Fat Choy TRP readers! Today is Chinese New Year!

In recognition of the Chinese New Year, let's do a color challenge! In celebrating the Chinese new year, it's custom to wear red or adorn your house in red scrolls/paintings to scare the evil spirits away in the new year. With that in mind, I want to see LOs with lots and lots of red. It can be a layout about your new favorite pair of shoes, your daughter's brand new red bike, the spaghetti faced 14 month old son, or the red corvette you just got for Christmas.

Post your link in the comments so the Rockin' Red Porch Chicks can check it out and choose the winner. The winner will be announced at the end of the week. No TRP products are required for this challenge. The only other colors you can use in your layout will be either gold, silver, white, creme, or black. But RED needs to be the predominate color. Hope you have fun! Wishing you good fortune and many blessing in the year of the ox. All my best, Kelly

Drum roll please....and the answer to the game question is....

THOMAS JEFFERSON!!!

Who would've thought. He collected items and pictures, pasted them into his notebooks, and journaled about them. How amazing. I bet there are a lot more men out there who scrapbook. They probably don't call it scrapbook. What do you think they call it?  A personal log? A record book?

Congrats to Aimee, Renee, and Laura B. Make sure to send an email to kelly@theredporch.com to claim your prize. Woohoo!!! As for the other game participants, don't despair. I've got some goodies to give you too. Just hang tight!

Hope you had fun playing our game. Check back tomorrow to view the winner of this week's challenge.

All my best, Kelly

The end is near...

The game ends tomorrow evening, so hurry and post your answers...

Are you ready to play a game?

January 20, 2009 in Games

Hey TRP Readers, Here is the fabulous quickpage you'll get if you win the challenge. The fun new kit Kitschy Flowers & Ephemera by designer Stacy Dinkel was used to make this prize.  Don't forget to post your LO in the earlier comment to win some RAKS. You might get a free kit...

So, let's move on to the game. Whoever posts the correct answer will get a prize. This may be tricky, but with a little internet research, I think it'll be easy to answer this. In light of inauguration day in the United States, I thought I'd ask a presidential question. What former President of the United States .... was considered a scrapbooker? Back in the day, they may not have called him that, but in evaluating the way he kept his records, it would be easy to conclude that he was an avid scrapbooker.

If you don't know, take a guess. You might just get the right answer on chance. Also, all commenters are eligible for RAKs, so post your comments!

New Challenge - personal historical events

January 18, 2009 in Challenges

Hey TRP Readers,

After a much needed break after working ourselves silly with the grand-opening, we're back and ready to settle into a more sane pace, and to kick off this week, we have a new challenge.

Here in the US, it's our presidential inauguration which got us thinking about historic events. So this week's challenge is historic events, and we'd love to see a layout about a historic event in your life. It can be the birth of your child or the acceptance of your doctoral degree or what this inauguration means to you. Whatever suits you - let's see those personal historic layouts!

There are no requirements in terms of how many pictures or journaling are included in the layout and you don't have to use TRP products. Just post a link to your layout in the comments. The Rockin' Red Porch Chicks will pick the winner at the end of the week.

Oh, and RAKs will be given out to a couple lucky comment posters to this blog entry.

Happy Scrapping!

Kelly
